Just after 9 p.m., Sean Ours was walking along North Main Street toward the intersection at Judd Parkway when he entered the crosswalk.

Oncoming traffic had a green light and the right of way, according to Fuquay-Varina spokesperson Susan Weiss. The pedestrian light had a stop signal when Ours entered the crosswalk, she said.

Ours was struck by a vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

“At this time, we do not expect charges against the driver, as no contributing circumstances were identified on their end,” she wrote in an email to The News & Observer.
