Buc-ee’s, which sells beaver-branded snacks and touts the cleanliness of its restrooms, originally planned to welcome customers to the new Mebane store in spring 2027.
Then in March, the store told The N&O the opening date would be delayed until late 2027. But as of Tuesday, Oct. 21, the travel center lists on its website an estimated 2028 launch.
When asked about the discrepancy, a store spokesperson in an email to The N&O said “the opening date has not yet been finalized.”
The popular chain has dozens of locations, including in neighboring Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. But the Mebane store could be the first in North Carolina.
