Citing the changes in the alcohol industry, Triangle Wine Company shut down last week after 11 years as a regional destination for wine and beer. The owners taped a sign to the front door of its Cary location and posted a farewell message on social media.
“We have been proud to serve for the last eleven years as your favorite provider of wine wines and apertifs, and we will forever cherish the countless fond memories that you have helped us to forge,” the closing announcement said. “But the times they are a-changing, and with the ever-shifting realities of the current political and economic environment, we came to the difficult decision that we could simply not remain in business any longer. Sadly our store has closed its doors for the last time.”

The brand started with the original location in Morrisville and expanded to locations in Cary’s Waverly Place, Holly Springs, Raleigh and Southern Pines. The original Morrisville location closed in 2018.

Triangle Wine Co. is the latest alcohol brand to shut down. Multiple breweries have closed in the Triangle in the last year, including Wake County’s Vicious Fishes, Cotton House and Funguys.
“We will miss every one of you, especially the four-legged friends who helped us to make new customers feel right at home,” the closing notice said. “We leave you now not with a tearful goodbye, but with a warm smile and a final toast: Cheers!”
