There are six new teams in the North Carolina Super 25 high school football rankings after the first week of the season.

Each week this season, The Charlotte Observer and The News & Observer will rank the top 25 teams in the state, regardless of classification.
The sites also produce class-by-class statewide rankings. and The Sweet 16 Charlotte-area regional rankings, which began in 1984.
This week, the top three teams in the NC Super 25 remained the same, with No. 1 Hough (8A) followed by Providence Day (NCISAA Division I) and Grimsley (7A). All three teams are reigning state champions.

Mallard Creek jumped four spots to No. 4 after beating Rolesville, 45-25, on the road.
