Water samples started being collected at 5 a.m., and the earliest test results are expected around midnight, the release stated.

N.C. 55 was closed in both directions between the Jenks Road/Old Jenks Road intersection and the Lewey Drive/Turner Creek Road intersection while crews cleared debris from the roadway.
Traffic was expected to be restored to one lane in each direction by 7 a.m., conditions permitting. Drivers should use alternate routes.
