The twisted churro is returning to warehouses nationwide more than two years after it disappeared from menus, the wholesale club confirmed over the weekend.
“Look out for it at your local warehouse over the coming weeks as exact launch dates vary,” Costco said on social media.
The cinnamon sugar-dusted fry dough pastry was not available at most North Carolina locations — including Charlotte, Matthews, Raleigh, Apex, Durham and Winston-Salem — as of Monday, Sept. 21, The Charlotte Observer confirmed.
An employee at the Costco warehouse in Greensboro said the churros could arrive by next week, adding, “They’re on order, but they’re not in transit (yet).”
The twisted churro was discontinued in early 2024 and replaced with a different treat: the double chocolate chunk cookie, Delish.com reported. Now it’s back for a limited-time, though Costco didn’t say how long it’ll stick around.
Pricing details also remain under wraps. The dessert cost $1.49 the last time it was on menus, USA Today reported.

Costco loyalists may remember an earlier version of the treat (pre-2020) was thinner, didn’t have that signature corkscrew shape, and cost just 99 cents, according to Delish.com. The larger, twisted version was introduced in 2021 after COVID-related cuts to the menu.
It’s just the latest change to hit Costco’s food court. In April, the retailer tweaked its famous $1.50 hot dog and soda combo by giving members the choice to swap out their soft drink for a bottle of Kirkland-brand water, The Raleigh News & Observer reported.
It also introduced crispy chicken strips earlier this summer.
More recently, Costco debuted a seasonal strawberry shortcake sundae featuring vanilla or strawberry soft serve, shortcake bites and strawberry topping. It replaced the limited-time caramel churro sundae.
