The GOAT is expanding his footprint in Fort Lauderdale.
A company linked to Lionel Messi, the Argentine soccer star and captain of Inter Miami, bought a house next door to one he already owns in Fort Lauderdale’s gated Bay Colony neighborhood.

A deed recorded in Broward County shows Sadani LLC, a company reportedly managed by Messi’s wealth manager, paid $8 million for the Compass Lane home. The news of the purchase was first reported by The Real Deal.
Messi bought the adjacent home for $10.8 million three years ago using the same LLC. He bought the property not long after he announced he’d be joining Inter Miami.
Since then, Messi, along with his wife, Antonela Roccuzzo, and their three sons, has spent much of his time in South Florida.
Both Compass Lane homes have waterfront access on one of Bay Colony’s many canals. The home Messi bought earlier this month was last purchased by Michael and Michelle Nelson in 2013 for $2.7 million. The house has seven bedrooms and spans more than 7,600 square feet, according to a Zillow listing.

Purchasing adjacent properties has become a popular strategy for celebrities and wealthy homebuyers in South Florida looking for space and privacy. Billionaire Ken Griffin has bought neighboring properties in Palm Beach to create a massive waterfront estate, and Spanish singer Enrique Iglesias has been buying adjacent properties in Miami’s Bay Point neighborhood for years.
Messi, one of the greatest players of all time, led Argentina to a World Cup victory in 2022 and a second-place finish in this year’s global tournament.
Last month, Messi, 39, announced he was retiring from international soccer, though he plans to continue playing club soccer. Messi has signed a contract to play with Inter Miami through 2028.
