Actor James Handy<\/strong> died at age 81 after being stabbed by his girlfriend’s son.<\/a><\/p>\n

“On Wednesday, June 3, 2026, around 9:30 a.m., West Valley area patrol officers responded to a radio call of unknown trouble in the 19200 block of Erwin Street,” Los Angeles police confirmed in a June 2026 statement. “The 911 caller stated, \u2018I am the son of man, I just killed the man of sin.'”<\/p>\n

Handy was “transported to a local hospital” where he was pronounced dead, the police shared. Authorities launched an investigation into the fatal incident.<\/p>\n

Michael Gledhill<\/strong>, the son of Handy’s girlfriend, reportedly “flagged down nearby responding officers” and told them that “he was the one they were looking for” following the stabbing.<\/p>\n

“The suspect resides at the location with his mother, who is the victim’s girlfriend,” the LAPD statement continued. “Detectives believe this is an isolated incident and there appears to be no danger to the public at this time.”<\/p>\n

Gledhill was arrested after turning himself in to the police. He was booked into jail on one count of murder, with his bail set at $2 million.<\/p>\n

Details about Handy’s personal life are few and far between. It’s unclear whether Handy was ever married. However, he was dating someone at the time of his death. Her name has not been publicly released.<\/p>\n

It’s unclear whether Handy had any kids of his own. However, his girlfriend had a son named Michael who was arrested for Handy’s murder. Further details about his girlfriend’s family have not yet been shared publicly.<\/p>\n

LAPD confirmed that Handy died after sustaining a stab wound to his chest. The actor was found unconscious in the front yard of his L.A. residence.<\/p>\n

Handy played the role of exterminator in the 1995 film, also starring the late Robin Wiliams<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Handy’s last role prior to his death was that of Jimmy in the 2022 blockbuster, a sequel to the 1986 movie Top Gun<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Handy made several TV show appearances throughout his career, including Alias from 2002 to 2006, along with The West Wing<\/em><\/a>, NYPD Blue<\/em>, Profiler<\/em> and Melrose Place<\/em>, among others.<\/p>\n
