The suspect in a hit-and-run on New Bern Avenue in Raleigh that killed a 54-year-old woman was arrested in Wayne County, the Raleigh Police Department said Saturday morning.<\/p>\n

Isaiah Deshon Gray, 25, of Goldsboro, is charged with felony hit-and-run and a probation violation, accused of killing Nicole Shawnette White, Raleigh police said. The department\u2019s Crash Reconstruction Unit obtained his cell phone and vehicle used in the crash to identify Gray.<\/p>\n

White was attempting to cross New Bern Avenue at 9 p.m. outside of a crosswalk on May 15 when a vehicle struck her. White died as a result of her injuries, but the driver did not stay on scene. White is survived by her three sons, mother and sister, according to her obituary<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Wayne County Probation Office arrested Gray, and he is awaiting extradition to Raleigh, Raleigh police said. Records from the Department of Adult Corrections indicate Gray was serving a two-year probationary period for two felony offenses of possessing cannabis and one count of carrying a concealed weapon \u2014 all committed between 2024 and 2025.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis partnership demonstrates the Raleigh Police Department\u2019s commitment to working alongside other law enforcement agencies to hold individuals accountable for violent crimes in our city,\u201d Raleigh police wrote in a statement.<\/p>\n

Court records show Gray has pleaded guilty to or responsible for 13 traffic violations since 2018, including a 2022 guilty plea for misdemeanor driving after consuming alcohol under the age of 21 in 2020. Gray is being held on a $50,000 bond for the hit-and-run charge and a $10,000 bond for the probation violation.<\/p>\n

Raleigh police said the investigation is continuing and asked anyone with information related to the case to call the department at 919-996-1315 or submit an anonymous tip through Raleigh Crime Stoppers.<\/p>\n
