Scattered thunderstorms could hit the Triangle Friday evening with the National Weather Service forecasting a \u201cslight\u201d or level two risk of thunderstorms from 4 p.m. to midnight.<\/p>\n

A few storms could produce damaging winds with gusts over 60 miles per hour, according to a weather briefing.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want ideally a longer duration kind of light-to-moderate rainfall really to help with those drought areas<\/a>, and, obviously, we\u2019ll welcome any rainfall, but just keep in mind that an excessive amount of rainfall for a very short period of time could be problematic,\u201d Pelczynski said.<\/p>\n
