Both men were killed.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/durhammovinghub.com\/?p=2370\">The biggest Canes watch parties in the Triangle for Game 6 of the Stanley Cup<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Deputies responded to reports of gunfire at the Dollar General on South White Street in the town of Whitakers around 10 a.m., the Sheriff\u2019s Office said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/share\/p\/18ujH6Wyqo\/\" rel=\"Follow\" target=\"_blank\">in a Saturday afternoon statement on Facebook<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>There, deputies found one man, Herbert Earl Lawrence Jr., with a gunshot wound to the chest. What we know<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Deputies found the second man, Wilbert Silver III, at the intersection of Nash and White Streets, also suffering from a gunshot wound, the sheriff\u2019s office said. Despite efforts to save his life, Silver also died from injuries.<\/p>\n<p>The sheriff\u2019s office said its preliminary investigation showed Lawrence and Silver \u201cwere involved a heated altercation that escalated into an exchange of gunfire.\u201d The Sheriff\u2019s Office did not release the two men\u2019s ages.
