Superman<\/em><\/a> actor David Corenswet<\/strong><\/a> is coming to Supergirl Milly Alcock<\/strong>‘s rescue.<\/p>\n

Corenswet, 32, stepped in and appeared to defend his costar after a photographer touched her back at the New York City premiere of Supergirl<\/em><\/a> on Monday, June 22, per footage that has gone viral via social media.<\/p>\n

In the clip<\/a>, Corenswet, Alcock, 26, and Superman<\/em> costars Rachel Brosnahan<\/strong> and Nicholas Hoult<\/strong> appear to be chatting when a photographer places a hand on Alcock’s back. Corenswet can then be seen breaking away from the conversation to have words with the photographer.<\/p>\n

The actor received praise on X for his swift action, with one fan writing, “David is superman both in the movies and in real life \ud83e\udd70.”<\/p>\n

“A big respect for David for stepping up like that. Photographers need to keep their hands to themselves,” added another.<\/p>\n

Alcock stars as Kara Zor-El\/Supergirl in the new DC Studios movie after first appearing alongside Corenswet in a cameo in 2025’s Superman<\/em>. Corenswet reprises his role as Clark Kent\/Superman – Kara’s cousin – in a supporting role in Supergirl<\/em>, which is due for release on Friday, June 26.<\/p>\n

The cast also includes Jason Momoa<\/strong>, Eve Ridley<\/strong> and Matthias Schoenaerts<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

In May, Supergirl<\/em> coproducer Peter Safran<\/strong> addressed casting Alcock as the latest incarnation of Supergirl, revealing how she nailed her audition.<\/p>\n

“Everybody had tears in their eyes,” he told Variety<\/em><\/a>. She wears her heart on her sleeve; she brings so much emotion to the role. We all looked at each other and said, \u2018This is absolutely perfect. She’s exactly what we want.'”<\/p>\n

Screenwriter Ana Nogueira<\/strong> added, “We had really good actresses come in – like, people that gave great auditions. It’s not even really about that? It’s just like, Milly’s the girl.”<\/p>\n

Alcock first shot to fame playing the younger version of Rhaenyra Targaryen in the first season of HBO’s House of the Dragon<\/em>, a spinoff of Game of Thrones,<\/em> before the character was aged up and later played by Emma D’Arcy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In a March interview with Vanity Fair<\/em><\/a>, Alcock reflected on Game of Thrones<\/em>‘ intense fandom and whether the show had prepared her for the scrutiny she’ll face from comic book fans.<\/p>\n

“It definitely made me aware that simply existing as a woman in that space is something that people comment on. We have become very comfortable having this weird ownership of women’s bodies,” she said. “I can’t really stop them. I can only be myself.”<\/p>\n

She added of her Supergirl, “She’s not trying to save the world – she’s just trying to save her own. This film is an excellent reminder that the world can be crumbling around you, but you can be the hero of your own story.”<\/p>\n
