Wake County also passed a tax rate increase in its budget<\/a>, which means the combined tax bill increase will be nearly $310 for a $649,000 home.<\/p>\n

And the property taxes on the median-value Cary home have nearly doubled over the past decade.<\/a><\/p>\n

The tax rate is actually 1 cent per $100 lower than what the town originally proposed, however.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s because the council decided to use an additional $4.3 million in reserves to help pay for aspects of the budget on top of the $5.7 million the original budget called for using.<\/p>\n

The budget also makes just over $2 million in cuts.<\/p>\n

The town\u2019s solid waste fee will increase $2 to $28 per month, while the utility rate will increase 4% on the base rate, or about $3.08 more per month for the average home, according to a town news release.<\/p>\n
