\u201cFireworks are not as environmentally friendly as drones, and it does create a quieter and more accessible viewing experience for our community members,\u201d said Darien Cropper, Chapel Hill\u2019s marketing and communications coordinator for Community Arts and Culture.<\/p>\n

Officials are encouraging residents to attend professional displays like the drone show this year instead of setting off fireworks at home because of the hot, dry conditions and an increased fire risk from traditional fireworks.<\/p>\n

The free event begins at 7 p.m., with the drone show scheduled for 9:20 p.m.<\/p>\n

There is no general parking at Chapel Hill High School, Smith Middle School or Seawell Elementary School, according to the Town of Chapel Hill website<\/a>. Instead, attendees should park at the Rosemary Parking Deck, UNC\u2019s RR Lot or the Eubanks Park & Ride Lot and take the town\u2019s free shuttle service.<\/p>\n

The town also encourages attendees to bring water, blankets, chairs, coolers and picnic supplies, since seating will not be provided.<\/p>\n
