The town was named <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsobserver.com\/news\/state\/north-carolina\/article287548480.html\" rel=\"Follow\" target=\"_blank\">one of the prettiest<\/a> in the South, The News &amp; Observer reported in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>The honors continued this year, when Beaufort ranked among the nation\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsobserver.com\/news\/state\/north-carolina\/article315585583.html\" rel=\"Follow\" target=\"_blank\">most-loved coastal towns<\/a>, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsobserver.com\/news\/state\/north-carolina\/article315722648.html\" rel=\"Follow\" target=\"_blank\">fan-favorite place<\/a> along the East Coast and a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.southernliving.com\/best-beach-towns-for-retirement-12003237\" rel=\"Follow\" target=\"_blank\">top Southern retirement destination<\/a>.
