Multiple gunshots were fired inside the home while deputies attempted to get the man to surrender, it said.<\/p>\n<p>Michael Levandoski Jr., 41, exited the home a short time later and was taken to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill for a mental health evaluation, deputies reported. His wife and son were also taken to the hospital for a medical evaluation, they said.<\/p>\n<p>Deputies found the family\u2019s black and brown dog, Nutter Butter, dead from multiple gunshot wounds inside the home, according to the release and arrest warrants. He also put his hands around her neck and throat and attempted to strangle her, the document states, noting deputies found red marks and bruising on the wife\u2019s throat when they arrived.<\/p>\n<p>Levandoski also attacked and tried to strangle his son, a second arrest warrant said.
