Lizzo <\/b><\/a>is clearing the air and addressing the viral rumors that she dissed fellow musician Taylor Swift<\/b><\/a>.<\/p>\n

“The Life Of A Showgirl <\/i>+ MY FACE HURTS FROM SMILING <\/i>– 4.005M \ud83d\udc51<\/span>,” an X user wrote on Friday, May 22, alongside footage from Lizzo’s “STFU” music video. “ICEMAN + MAID OF HONOUR + HABIBTI – 683k \u26b0\ufe0f\u26b0\ufe0f\u26b0\ufe0f\u26b0\ufe0f<\/span>.”<\/p>\n

Lizzo, 38, replied to the tweet, asking, “Can someone explain what this means?”<\/p>\n

A fan subsequently claimed that “all that s***-talking” Lizzo allegedly did about Swift, 36, “finally caught up” to her and impacted her My Face Hurts From Smiling<\/i> record’s chart position.<\/p>\n

Lizzo clapped back at the implication.<\/p>\n

“Are you well? First of all I have never talked s*** about Taylor Swift,” Lizzo tweeted<\/span><\/a> on Saturday, May 23. “Also while we [are] on the subject I’ve never talked s*** about any artist. Just because I mention an artist by name does not mean I’m talking s*** – grow tf up pls.”<\/p>\n

Lizzo has long been inspired by Swift, even finding a slew of similarities with the pop superstar.<\/p>\n

“I’m Black Taylor Swift,” she quipped during a 2022 appearance on The Breakfast Club<\/i><\/span><\/a><\/i>radio show, joking about how the two singers often pull from their personal lives in various songs. “I really am, I’m trifling.”<\/p>\n

Both Lizzo and Swift are known for writing about their respective love lives<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“I don’t talk too badly about [an ex’s] character, it’s just what he do,” Lizzo explained at the time. “I’ll be like, \u2018He’s a good person, but this is what he did. Am I tripping?’ They’d be like, \u2018You’re not tripping, you’re not tripping.'”<\/p>\n

Lizzo’s new single, “Bitch,” also takes inspiration from Swift.<\/p>\n

“Shout-out to Meredith Brooks<\/b>. I want the whole world to know that this is her record,” Lizzo said on the “Genius Verified” podcast earlier this month, revealing the new track interpolates Brooks’ \u201890s-era hit. “I feel like that would’ve gotten lost in translation a little bit. I was like, \u2018This is Lizzo’s version.'”<\/p>\n

Lizzo continued, “You know how it’s like, \u2018Taylor’s Version?’ It’s like, \u2018Bitch (Lizzo’s Version).'”<\/p>\n

Swift re-recorded four of her past albums, save for Taylor Swift <\/i>and Reputation<\/i>, beginning in 2021 after the masters were sold from record label Big Machine to a third party. The 14-time Grammy winner was ultimately able to purchase her discography<\/span><\/a> in May 2025.<\/p>\n

“All I’ve ever wanted was the opportunity to work hard enough to be able to one day purchase my music outright with no strings attached, no partnership [and] with full autonomy,” Swift said in a statement at the time. “I will forever be grateful to everyone at Shamrock Capital for being the first people to ever offer this to me. The way they’ve handled every interaction we’ve had has been honest, fair and respectful. This was a business deal to them, but I really felt like they saw it for what it was to me: My memories and my sweat and my handwriting and my decades of dreams.”<\/p>\n
