The recall from Star Meat Delivery Inc. includes “raw pork, beef, and goat products that were produced without the benefit of federal inspection, bearing labels with a false USDA mark of inspection,” the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service wrote Tuesday, Sept. 22 in a news release.
When The News & Observer reached out to Star Meat Delivery on Wednesday, Sept. 23, a spokesperson declined to comment. The company has a presence in Lucama, a roughly 50-mile drive southeast from downtown Raleigh.
The affected products have the label A&D Foods and were sent for distribution to stores and restaurants across the country. The product was confirmed to have been in South Carolina, and an investigation is ongoing, a USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service spokesperson told The N&O.
“There have been no confirmed reports of illness or injury due to consumption of these products,” the USDA wrote. “Anyone concerned about an illness or injury should contact a healthcare provider.”

A list of impacted products is available at fsis.usda.gov/recalls, where officials also plan to share updates about where the products were sold. The government warns that foods that aren’t inspected may contain “harmful bacteria” or other hazards.
“Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them,” the USDA wrote. “Retailers and restaurants are urged not to sell or serve these products. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.”
