So when there’s a major recall of a popular food item, it can be a big deal for shoppers.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is generally responsible for ensuring the safety of Americans. If it finds contamination in food, drugs, or cosmetics, it will issue a recall.
And now a popular food item sold at Walmart has been recalled over potential health issues.
A popular seasoning sold in Walmart’s across the country has been recalled over a high health risk, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Shoppers who have bought this item have been told to stop eating it right away.
The Blackstone Parmesan Ranch seasoning products are being recalled because they could be contaminated with salmonella, the FDA stated.
Salmonella is a type of bacteria that causes intestinal issues and, in severe cases, requires medical attention, according to the Mayo Clinic. It is often spread through consuming infected food and drink products.
Certain groups are at more risk. Symptoms of salmonella include watery diarrhea with blood or mucus, severe stomach cramps, headaches, nausea, vomiting and loss of appetite.

Symptoms can begin as soon as six hours after infection and lasts for four to seven days.
There are roughly 1.35 million infections in the U.S. every year, with 420 deaths and 26,500 hospitalisations, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The popular seasoning is sold exclusively in Walmart and on the Blackstone website. While Walmart has a list of food and item recalls on its website, Blackstone Parmesan Ranch seasoning had not yet been listed at the time of writing.
The recall is limited to a set number of products.
The recall is a result of a dry milk powder that the FDA says may have been contaminated. Blackstone’s seasoning contains milk powder from California Dairies, which issued the initial recall in April, FDA records show.

The contaminated milk may also be in other products, including popcorn seasoning by William Sonoma, Ghirardelli powdered beverages, Zapp’s potato chips, and other products sold by brands that have also issued recalls.
No illnesses have been reported, the FDA said.
