When you’re inevitably flagged down by young scouts outside a pharmacy or grocery store, you’ll see that each box is priced at $6, Charlyse Myhand-McDaniel, communications manager for Girl Scouts – North Carolina Coastal Pines, told me in an email.

The local council — North Carolina Coastal Pines, which encompasses 41 counties in central and eastern North Carolina — sets the price of cookies.
So don’t waste your time trying to compare costs. As long as you’re not venturing too far, it doesn’t matter which scout you’re buying from: You’ll pay $6 per box.

The other new flavor, Sparkables, is made for humans. They’re crunchy oatmeal chocolate chip cookies with sprinkles, and they’re allergy-friendly, gluten-free, nut-free and vegan.
Both Patch Pals and Girl Scout Sparkables are online exclusives, and if they sound appealing to you, be prepared to pay more. The dog treats cost $9 per package, and Sparkables are $7 a box.
And if you’re buying any cookies from a scout affiliated with a different council, you may not be paying $6 per box. It depends on what the council decides to do.
Often, an item’s sticker price is different from the price you actually pay, because there are fees and taxes.
But when you buy Girl Scout cookies, you won’t be charged sales tax because the council is tax-exempt.
And unlike so many other purchases, when you buy Girl Scout cookies, you won’t be charged fees if you pay with a credit card, whether you’re shopping online or in person.
