The warning, issued at 2:36 p.m., is in effect until 3:30 p.m.
A severe storm with 60 mph gusts and penny-sized hail was reported from seven miles south of Pittsboro to near Sanford, moving east at 25 mph.

The NWS said to expect damage to roofs, siding and trees.
The NWS has also issued a severe thunderstorm watch that extends until 9 p.m. for 21 counties across Central North Carolina, including Wake, Durham, Orange, Chatham, Johnston, Harnett and Lee counties.
