Daughtry, who has been on the show for five years, shared the news to her 23,000 Facebook followers and 11,600 Instagram followers.

“I haven’t wanted to do this all week,” Daughtry said in a video posted to her Facebook accounts. “I was hoping to be able to tell you this on the big microphone, but that wasn’t an option. The season changed a little sooner than I expected, but I’ve learned by now that not every ending is a bad one.”

Daughtry joined Curtis Media Group’s WQDR station in 2021. She co-hosted Q Morning Crew with Mike Wheless until her abrupt departure.

Fans of the Johnston County native took to the comments to express sadness for her absence on the air waves. One said that they will no longer listen to the station without Daughtry’s presence.

Prior to her job with Curtis Media, Daughtry spent 10 years in Nashville performing at bars, opening for bands on tour and releasing albums, according to her website. In 2014, Amanda won Female Country Artist of the Year from the Carolina Music Awards.

The News & Observer contacted Daughtry and individuals at Curtis Media Group on three occasions this week requesting more information, but as of time of publishing there has been no reply.
