Wake County deputies responded to two separate stabbings on Wednesday, both of which left men with serious injuries.

The Wake County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 6300 block of Old Mill Farm Drive in Wendell just after 10 a.m. Wednesday and found an injured man, who was taken to a local hospital.

The Sheriff’s Office alerted residents in the area of Robertson Pond Road and Edgemont Road, describing the suspect and urging the public to call 911 if they saw him.

Just after 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, the Sheriff’s Office said deputies had arrested Earnhart Joyner III, 38, near Old Bunch Road and charged him with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

It’s unclear whether the two men knew each other or if investigators have a possible motive.

“We would like to thank the community for their patience and support as investigators continue to work through this investigation,” Sheriff Willie Rowe said in a news release. “WCSO deputies and Wendell Police officers responded quickly and worked together to take this suspect into custody.”

Deputies responded to the second stabbing around 2:30 p.m. in the 4200 block of Chandler Ridge Circle in Raleigh and found another man suffering from a stab wound. He also was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Deputies arrested a suspect in that stabbing, they said Wednesday evening, but did not provide a name. That investigation is ongoing, they said.
