Durham police are investigating a crash on Garrett Road that left a man dead early Tuesday morning.

Police responded to the fatal collision in the 4000 block of Garrett Road just before 2 a.m. The man, driving a 2014 Nissan Altima, was traveling north on Garrett Road and passed through the intersection at Lansbury Drive when he veered to the right and drove through a ditch, hitting a raised driveway.
Police said the car passed through the driveway, ran over a fence and hit a parked car. The man was not wearing a seatbelt, according to police, and was thrown to the backseat.
The man, whom police have not publicly identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said a female passenger was also in the car but was wearing a seatbelt. She was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
