The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory for all the Triangle, and much of central North Carolina, from 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, to 8 p.m. The temperatures will be around the 100s with a heat index up to 107 degrees forecasted, according to the heat advisory.

In Raleigh the average temperature was 81.4 degrees, more than 2.4 degrees hotter than the average. Over the summer, there were 64 days that topped 90 degrees in Raleigh compared to the 44-day average.
Libraries in Wake, Durham and Orange counties are open and available for people to use as cooling stations, the three local governments reported.
“September is here, but the summer temperatures are not letting up just yet,” said Josh Creighton, deputy director of Wake County Fire Services and Emergency Management, in a news release. “As the heat continues, it’s important to keep heat safety front of mind even when fall comes around.”
