A teenage boy drowned in Falls Lake in northern Wake County on Monday afternoon.
Witnesses say the boy went in the lake to go swimming, went underwater and never resurfaced, according to the Wake County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities have not released any information about the teen, including his name.

Another witness told ABC11-TV that the boy fell off a jet ski.
Sheriff’s deputies were called to the Sandling Beach Recreation Area, off Creedmoor Road, at about 2:20 p.m. That kicked off a search that lasted about four hours before the boy’s body was found.

In addition to the sheriff’s office, searchers included the Durham Fire Department, N.C. State Parks, Northern Wake Fire Department, Nash County Sheriff’s Office, N.C. State Trooper’s Association K-9 Search and Recovery, Wake County EMS, Wake County Emergency Management and the Wake Forest Fire Department.
