Krispy Kreme is celebrating 30 years of Pokémon with a sweet giveaway.
On Saturday, Aug. 22, anyone wearing Pokémon attire can score a free original glazed doughnut at participating Krispy Kreme shops nationwide.

No purchase is required, and free doughnuts are limited to one per person, according to a news release.
The one-day giveaway comes as the Charlotte-based doughnut chain debuts a limited-time lineup inspired by the popular video game and TV anime series, launched in 1996 and 1997, respectively. Krispy Kreme’s Pokémon Doughnut Collection arrived in shops Aug. 18 and includes five doughnut creations:
The collection also features a special Poké Ball Doughnut, glazed and dipped in vanilla icing, topped with red sprinkles and piped with chocolate icing.
“We had so much fun bringing the world of Pokémon to life through doughnuts in a way only Krispy Kreme can,” Alison Holder, chief brand and product officer at Krispy Kreme, said in the release.

The limited-time doughnuts are available individually and by the dozen, though the chain didn’t say how long they’ll remain on the menu.
Last week, Krispy Kreme got a jump start on fall with the return of its popular pumpkin spice cake doughnut, CharlotteFive reported. The pastry is among the new and returning flavors in its Autumn Seasonal Collection, along with two lattes.
