The pub and restaurant came to be in 1997 when Michael Doherty, a local, set out to bring Irish culture to the Triangle with Tir Na Nog in downtown Raleigh. From there, the business transitioned to Connolly’s Irish Pub in Cary. In 2012, this location was renamed Doherty’s Irish Pub & Restaurant, where the familiarity of a local spot was reintroduced with the standards of a chef-driven kitchen.

The two Cary locations will be a 13-minute drive from each other once the new building opens. Doherty’s Irish Pub also has locations in Apex, Pittsboro, and Holly Springs. The East Chatham Street location was previously home to Spirits Pub & Grub.
