Welcome to Under the Dome. I’m politics editor Jordan Schrader, and I hope you had a great Labor Day weekend. My colleague Jane Winik Sartwell, our higher education reporter, wrote about how interest has been increasing in apprenticeship and preapprenticeship programs.
The latest state budget nearly triples state funding for the agency that handles registration of apprenticeships for employers. “This really seems to be one of the few areas where there is bipartisan support,” NC State professor Steven Allen says.
