Court records show that Keegan Chance Hoerr, 18, of Fuquay-Varina, was charged by Fuquay-Varina police with a felony count of bringing a gun onto educational property and two misdemeanor counts of bringing a weapon onto educational property. Warrants say Hoerr was found with a semi-automatic pistol and two pocket knives.

Wade Martin, the principal of Willow Spring High, told families that the school had received a report Friday morning of a firearm in a student’s vehicle on campus.
“We immediately alerted our School Resource Officer as well as WCPSS Security and began an investigation,” Martin said in the letter to families. “While searching the vehicle, the officer did find the reported weapon along with two small knives and prohibited substances.

“All of these were confiscated and the student has been removed from campus. There is no indication that anyone was ever threatened or in danger.”
Martin told families that state law requires a 365-day suspension of any student in possession of a firearm at a school.
