Amazon is partnering with a gas station chain to offer additional discounts for Triangle drivers this fall and winter.
Starting Friday, Amazon Prime members can save up to 20 cents per gallon at BP and BP-owned Amoco stations. The deal is good every Friday through Jan. 29.
But to get it, you need to have a free account on BP’s Earnify app. You also need to link your Amazon Prime membership — which costs $139 per year — to Earnify.
Then, when you’re at the pump, enter your phone number or use the Earnify app to apply the discount. It works for all fuel grades, and there’s no minimum or maximum purchase requirement.
Earnify account holders already get 5 cents off per gallon, and Prime members get 5 cents off every gallon when they fill up at a BP or Amoco station. So if you’re a Prime member whose account is already connected to Earnify, this deal will save you an additional 10 cents.

Tuesday, the average statewide cost of a gallon of regular gas in North Carolina is $4.11. With the Amazon-BP discount, you’d be paying $3.91. That’s more than $1 higher than the average price of regular gas a year ago, according to AAA, but today, every little bit counts.
I’ll be tracking prices at gas stations before and after Friday to see how good of a deal the 20 cent discount is.
Check back next week for an update.
Many other gas stations — including Circle K, Citgo, ExxonMobil and Sheetz — offer savings for loyalty members.
Triangle grocery and warehouse stores such as Harris Teeter, BJ’s Wholesale Club and Lowes Foods reward shoppers with points they can use to save money on gas. Costco and Sam’s Club members may pay around 25 cents less per gallon, compared to other gas stations.
You can also use GasBuddy, Upside and Waze apps to find the best gas prices wherever you are.
