The ACC released its nine-game home and away conference slates for its teams on Wednesday afternoon, and one Triangle school won’t play an opponent that’s only been absent from its schedule twice since 1943.

Duke won’t play Wake Forest for the first time since the COVID-19-shortended 2020 season. But since not playing in 1943, the 1966 season was the only other time the two teams haven’t met. The Blue Devils and Demon Deacons have played 105 times in the history of the programs.
Duke will host Boston College, Louisville, Miami, NC State and SMU, while playing Florida State, North Carolina, Pitt and Stanford on the road.

To ensure all teams play at least 10 Power Four opponents, the ACC moved to a new scheduling structure this season, and will keep a similar structure in 2027, according to a news release from the conference. Under the model, the release said 16 of the 17 ACC teams will play nine conference games and at least one Power Four nonconference opponent, with one team playing eight league games and at least two Power Four nonconference games.
