Gold Leaf Crossing’s developer is Charlotte-based real estate company, FV Retail, LLC. The $150 million retail development was eight years in the making when it was originally agreed to by the town. During this time, Gold Leaf Crossing was called Bellchase.

“As Fuquay-Varina’s residential population has grown, so has the demand for high-end retail and commercial amenities,” Susan Weis, the town’s communications director, said in an email. “The Town Board has made recruiting high-end commercial retailers an economic development priority and has focused its efforts on providing development opportunities for residents.”
On the other side of Main Street, a Panda Express and Gunthrie’s Chicken has been proposed. Both restaurant chains are asking for sub-3,000 square-foot buildings with 26 parking spaces.
Fuquay-Varina’s town hall has made recent news for other approved developments in the town. The News & Observer reported about the suburb’s approval of ball fields Hilltop Needmore Town Park despite much resident opposition.
