The closure comes after Wake County records show Red Robin sold its Cary property for $3.3 million. Rob Hicks, managing principal for the Carolinas at real-estate company Capital Growth Buchalter, called the Crossroads area “dynamic and expanding,” the Triangle Business Journal first reported July 14.
“We purchased the Red Robin about a month ago as a redevelopment opportunity,” Hicks told The N&O in a Tuesday, July 28 email. “It could be a new restaurant to the market or a new retail development of the site. We have not made that decision yet and are looking into the possibility.”

Fans who still crave Red Robin have other options in the Triangle. The restaurant also has locations in Apex, Durham, Garner, Raleigh (Brier Creek) and Wake Forest, according to the chain’s website.
Representatives for Red Robin and Kimco Realty, which leases out spaces at Centrum at Crossroads, didn’t immediately share additional information on Tuesday, July 28.
It’s not the only shakeup to hit Cary’s food scene. Fan-favorite restaurant Nazara Indian Bistro recently shut down its location in the town as it plans to move to Raleigh, The N&O previously reported.
