A pedestrian was hit and killed by an SUV Wednesday morning near Koka Booth Amphitheatre, according to police.

Soile Lazarz, 76, was hit shortly after 7 a.m. on Ederlee Drive near Peregrine Place. Police have not released details, including where Lazarz was when she was struck.

Police say Lazarz was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash despite the efforts of first responders and “good samaritans passing by.”

Police say the driver of the SUV and children who were passengers were not injured.

Police have not cited the driver but said they continue to investigate the crash.

They ask anyone with information about the crash to call the Cary Police Department’s non-emergency number, 919-469-4012.

Ederlee Drive is a four-lane road with sidewalks on both sides and a speed limit of 45 mph.
