Stephen Wilson Jr. took the stage in Raleigh Saturday night with dark storm clouds swirling around Red Hat Amphitheater. His mournful wail seemed to chase away the storm, making way for his own storm of genre-bending fusion of Rust Belt country, Appalachian folk swirled together with a punk rock feel. Wilson, playing tortured guitars that looked like they might have been turned away from a thrift shop, took the crowd through his rough rural journey.
